Ingredients
  • Chicken 1/2 kg medium sized pieces
  • oil 1 tsp
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves 5 to 6
  • onion 2 large cut long
  • green chilly 4 to 5 slit long
  • tomato 2 large chopped
For marinade
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • chilly powder 1/2 tsp
  • kachampuli 1 tsp
For grinding
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • coriander leaves
  • ginger 2 inch piece
  • garlic 7 to 8 cloves
  • coriander seeds 1tsp
  • jeera 1tsp
  • small onion 1
Method
Wash and drain the chicken and marinate with above ingredients for marination, and keep for atleast 30 minutes. Take all the ingredients for grinding, with enough water and grind well. In a kadai, heat oil and sputter mustard.  Add onion and green chilly, fry until brown, add tomato and saute well. Now add the marinated chicken and mix well. Fry in medium flame for 5 minutes. Add the ground mixture, adjust water. Add salt as needed and kachampuli. Allow to boil well. Kodava style chicken curry is ready to serve.
