Some of the remaining leaves with the elakki puttu mixture on them and small portions of the dishes made for the feast that day are kept by a muttaide in the kaimada and in each room of the house as midi to the ancestors. The rest of the elakki puttu is served to the family members during the feat that follows. The man who carried the pollud kutti dips his hand in the vessel used to prepare the mixture and presses his palm against the wall to leave an impression.
